Former Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has praised young players Estevao Willian and Josh Acheampong following their performances in Chelsea's 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United.
According to a report by Football London on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Sturridge singled out the two youngsters for their contributions, expressing confidence in their ability to develop into outstanding players.
Chelsea produced a strong display to secure all three points, with Morgan Rogers finding the net, Romeo Lavia providing control in midfield and goalkeeper Mike Penders making an important save to preserve his clean sheet. However, the performances of Estevao and Acheampong attracted particular attention from the former England international.
Estevao was given a starting role against Manchester United despite having limited opportunities under manager Xabi Alonso. The Brazilian winger showed his attacking quality through his dribbling, movement and ability to create problems for the opposition defence.
Although two of his attempts were ruled out for marginal offside decisions, Sturridge believed the youngster could have enjoyed an even more impressive outing.
“Salute to Estevao. On another day, he has a hat-trick and gets all the glory,” Sturridge wrote. “Let him build some momentum and he will fly. Special talent.”
Sturridge also highlighted the progress of Acheampong, who has become increasingly involved in Chelsea's first-team activities this season.
The 20-year-old defender has started nine of the club's 12 matches across all competitions, including their last four Premier League games. Against Manchester United, he demonstrated confidence in defensive situations, handled one-on-one challenges and showed his ability to move the ball forward.
While there remains room for improvement in his understanding of the game, his recent performances have attracted positive attention.
Sturridge expressed strong belief in the defender's potential, describing him as a player capable of reaching the highest level.
“Josh Acheampong is a baller and he's only 20 years young. He can become elite. Love his game,” the former England international posted.
His comments highlight the growing attention surrounding Chelsea's young talents as they continue to compete for regular places in the senior team.
