Joao Pedro has praised Cole Palmer for helping him adapt to life at Chelsea following his transfer from Brighton, while also explaining how manager Xabi Alonso’s confidence in him has influenced his performances this season.
According to a report by Football London on Friday, October 23, 2026, the Brazilian striker discussed the support he has received from his teammates and the important role his manager has played in his development.
Pedro joined Chelsea from Brighton last year and helped the club secure the Club World Cup title. He subsequently scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 35 Premier League appearances, earning Chelsea’s Player of the Season award.
The 25-year-old has continued to impress this campaign, registering five goals and three assists in seven appearances across all competitions. His partnership with Palmer and Morgan Rogers has also strengthened Chelsea’s attacking options.
Speaking to ESPN, Pedro revealed that Palmer reached out to him shortly after his arrival at Stamford Bridge, offering support as he adjusted to his new environment. Their relationship has since developed into a friendship both on and off the pitch.
The Brazilian also praised the positive atmosphere within Chelsea’s dressing room, explaining that his teammates made a conscious effort to help him settle into the squad.
He believes their encouragement has contributed to his improvement as he continues to establish himself as Chelsea’s leading centre-forward.
Pedro also acknowledged Alonso’s influence, crediting the manager for placing his trust in him and explaining that the confidence has positively affected his performances this season.
Chelsea’s tactical setup under Alonso has also benefited the striker. The manager’s 3-4-2-1 formation allows Palmer and Rogers to operate behind the main forward, creating opportunities and delivering passes into dangerous attacking areas.
Pedro has taken advantage of the creativity provided by both attacking midfielders, who have helped supply chances for him to find the back of the net.
Chelsea will hope the Brazilian maintains his impressive form when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.
The striker also boasts an impressive recent record against Spurs, having scored three goals in his last two appearances against the north London side.
