Ezri Konsa reacts to first Arsenal goal after Gunners go level with Man City

According to a report by GOAL on Saturday October 24, 2026, Ezri Konsa has expressed his delight after scoring his first goal for Arsenal in their 2-0 Premier League victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The defender opened his account for the Gunners in the seventh minute, helping Mikel Arteta’s side secure an important three points and move level with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal took advantage of City’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa earlier in the day, making their victory over Everton even more significant in the developing title race.

Konsa broke the deadlock after Arsenal won three consecutive corners during an earlyspell of pressure. The defender was in the right position at the back post to bundle the ball into the net and give the home side an early advantage.

Speaking after the match, Konsa described the moment as a special achievement, particularly because he had been waiting for his first goal since joining the club from Aston Villa during the summer.

“Great feeling, it always is. A clean sheet, a goal — my first goal for the club — so a fantastic day overall,” he said.

The goal was also significant for Arsenal because it ended a 13-game wait for a set-piece goal in all competitions, excluding penalties, according to the report.

Konsa explained that the team had been encouraged by the opportunities created from corners during their midweek Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich.

“Yeah, definitely after the game against Bayern, where we created a few chances with our set pieces,” he said. “We felt as players that it was coming and today was the day.”

Arsenal continued to threaten Everton after taking the lead, with Gabriel Magalhaes doubling their advantage in the 68th minute. The Brazilian defender rose to meet Ben White’s cross, marking his 200th Premier League appearance with a goal.

Konsa was full of praise for his defensive partner, highlighting the positive relationship they have developed since he arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

“Very pleased for him. He's a top, top player. Top human being. Very happy for him,” Konsa said. “He's made my life easy since I've joined the club and it's been a pleasure playing alongside him.”

The victory also allowed Arsenal to strengthen their position in the title race after Manchester City dropped points against Aston Villa. Both teams were level on 21 points following Saturday’s results, according to the report.

Konsa stressed that consistency would be essential if Arsenal wanted to maintain their challenge for the Premier League crown.

“We are champions and to be champions you've got to win games consistently. This is our home and we want to win as many games here as possible,” he stated.

Arsenal will now turn their attention to their Carabao Cup clash against Fleetwood Town before travelling to face Liverpool in the Premier League on November 1.
