Alex Iwobi, has moved second in appearances by African players in the Premier League following his involvement for Fulham against Aston Villa.
Iwobi recorded feat by making the starting line up for Fulham in the side’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa and by doing that has overtaken, he has now made 329 appearances in the competition and only behind Ivory Coast’s Kolo Toure who leads the rankings on 353.
The Super Eagles’ midfielder was level with Salah on 328 before the game but has now moved past the Egyptian national after the Sunday’s game, as well as Ghanian Jordan Ayew, 305, Ivory Coast’s Wilfried Zaha also in 305 and Shola Ameobi who had 298 in his career.
The 30-year-old’s total has been built across his 100 appearances for Arsenal, where he made his Premier League debut in 2015, 123 for Everton, and more than 100 for Fulham since joining in 2023.
He is also the Nigerian record holder in the competition, having earlier overtaken Shola Ameobi’s previous mark of 298 and is approximately 25 appearances short of hitting the overall African record.
Being a first teamer for the West London club, he has a realistic chance of closing the gap record in the seasons ahead.
