According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Chelsea claimed an important 2-0 win over Manchester United in their Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge.
Both sides entered the match determined to dominate proceedings, but Chelsea appeared particularly dangerous going forward, creating several promising opportunities. Manchester United also had chances to threaten the hosts, but neither team managed to break the deadlock before half-time as both defences remained solid.
Chelsea returned for the second half with greater attacking intensity and took the lead in the 50th minute through Morgan Rogers. The midfielder found the back of the net with a left-footed finish after receiving an assist from Romeo Lavia, giving the Blues the advantage.
Manchester United found it difficult to respond, and their problems increased in the 63rd minute when Lisandro Martinez was shown a second yellow card for violent conduct and sent off. The decision followed a VAR review of a penalty incident involving the defender and Wesley Fofana.
Cole Palmer took charge of the resulting penalty and confidently converted it in the 64th minute, sending goalkeeper Senne Lammens in the opposite direction to extend Chelsea's lead to 2-0.
Despite their efforts to get back into the contest, Manchester United struggled to overcome Chelsea's defence. The home side maintained control until the final whistle, although VAR ruled out a third goal for offside. Goalkeeper Mike Penders also produced some crucial saves to preserve Chelsea's clean sheet.
The result lifts Chelsea back into fourth place on the Premier League table with 16 points, leaving them just four points behind leaders Manchester City. Meanwhile, Manchester United remain in 16th position with seven points, only one point clear of the relegation zone.
