Barcelona Trio Dropped as Spain Hand Jacobo Ramon Maiden Senior Call-Up

According to a report by GOAL on Friday, November 6, 2026, Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has named a 27-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against the Czech Republic and England, with Como defender Jacobo Ramon earning his first senior international call-up.

The 21-year-old centre-back is the unexpected addition to De la Fuente's selection as Spain prepare for their final two group-stage matches in the competition.

Ramon will join Pau Cubarsi, Dean Huijsen and Aymeric Laporte as part of the defensive options available to the Spanish manager.

However, Barcelona will be without three of their regular players, with Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo and Rodri all missing from the squad because of their respective injury problems.

Their absence is a setback for De la Fuente ahead of the meeting with England, although he has received encouraging news with the return of two players.

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro and Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia have both recovered from physical problems that kept them out of the previous international break.

Spain will begin their campaign by travelling to Prague to face the Czech Republic on Thursday, November 12, before hosting England at the Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday, November 15.

The European champions have already booked their place in the Nations League quarter-finals after winning all four matches during the previous international window.

Nevertheless, De la Fuente's side still have an important target to achieve, as finishing top of Group A3 would give them the advantage of playing the second leg of their quarter-final tie at home in March.

Spain currently lead England by three points and will be keen to protect their position at the top of the group.

The encounter against the Three Lions will also give the Spanish side an opportunity to extend their impressive unbeaten run in competitive international matches.

Spain previously secured a 3-2 victory over England at Wembley Stadium and will be hoping to record another positive result when both teams meet in Madrid.

The national team will gather at the Ciudad del Futbol training centre in Las Rozas on Monday, November 9, before travelling to the Czech capital for their first fixture.

De la Fuente will expect his players to deliver strong performances in both matches as Spain aim to finish the group stage in first place and maintain their position as the world's highest-ranked national team.
