Tottenham player ratings vs Leeds as 3/10 flops but Luca Williams-Barnett makes impact

LEEDS UNITED 1-0 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR: Player ratings from Elland Road as Noah Okafor brings an end to Tottenham Hotspur's three-match winning streak.

Noah Okafor fired Leeds United to a 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, bringing an end to Roberto De Zerbi's three-match winning streak.

Leeds United leapt out of the gates, and they almost earned a spot-kick when Mateus Fernandes attempted to relieve some pressure with a daring backpass. In the opening five minutes, the Tottenham midfielder was accused of committing a handball offence when he used his shoulder to find Antonin Kinsky.

John Brooks did not judge Fernandes to step out of line, waving play on. Tony Harrington and his assistant, Matt Wilkes, reviewed the incident at Stockley Park and cleared the 22-year-old of any wrongdoing, stating that the ball struck 'the very top of the arm as he is leaning, in the green zone'.

Then, towards the end of the first half, Jayden Bogle escaped punishment when he planted his studs on the ankle of Mathys Tel, who was later forced to come off. Bizarrely, the Leeds United defender wasn't even booked, having not been shown a yellow card before the Video Assistant Referee began a four-minute review of the incident for a potential red card.

The West Yorkshire outfit finally broke the deadlock when Noah Okafor pranced past Rodrigo Bentancur and smashed the ball past Antonin Kinsky from close range. Leeds United had caught Spurs napping with a clever throw-in routine, losing the first and second duels while losing track of the third-man run into the box.

So, with that being said, football.london has rated the performance of each and every Tottenham Hotspur player.

Antonin Kinsky – 5

Antonin Kinsky couldn't have done much about the opener. Beforehand, though, the Tottenham goalkeeper had done well to weather the downpour of crosses, taking control of his six-yard box.

Pedro Porro – 4

Pedro Porro was bypassed far too easily by Gabriel Gudmundsson in the opening minutes, allowing Leeds to take aim from just outside the box. Fortunately for the Tottenham defender, the West Yorkshire outfit blazed wide.

Shortly after the break, Porro fell victim to another bizarre piece of officiating, receiving a yellow card for a well-executed tackle. Roberto De Zerbi couldn't believe his eyes; he was booked for dissent, while the travelling supporters bellowed, 'You're not fit to referee'.

Jan Paul van Hecke – 5

Jan Paul van Hecke was as solid as ever in the first half, keeping things tight at the back with an eye-watering eight clearances. Before the break, Dominic Calvert-Lewin had just nine touches, which was a credit to the Dutchmen's hard work.

Micky Van de Ven – 5

Micky van de Ven received a yellow card for sloppily dragging back Jayden Bogle on the quarter-hour mark. Although it was a little soft, the Tottenham captain let the referee make a decision, rewarding Leeds for a dominant start.

At the start of the second half, he produced an excellent piece of defending, flicking a pass played across the goalmouth out for a corner.

Andy Robertson – 5

Andy Robertson was at the heart of a great chance in the first half, combining well with Archie Gray, but he was a bit of a liability, losing possession more (15) than any other player on the pitch.

Sandro Tonali – 4

Sandro Tonali hardly set the world alight. For a player who commanded a club-record fee in the summer, Roberto De Zerbi would have expected a lot more, especially in such a close-fought game which was crying out for a piece of magic.

Archie Gray – 5

Archie Gray combined well with Andy Robertson in the first half to create a nice chance for Omar Marmoush, and, generally, did well in the middle of the park before returning to right-back when Pedro Porro came off.

Mateus Fernandes – 6

Mateus Fernandes had a shaky opening couple of minutes at Elland Road, catching the attention of the Video Assistant Referee with a daring shoulder-backpass to Kinsky before losing possession. Leeds smelt blood and piled on the pressure.

Mohammed Kudus – 6

Mohammed Kudus went on a mazy run in the first half, which almost bore fruit, but otherwise struggled to steal the limelight from the referee.

Mathys Tel – 6

Mathys Tel was on the receiving end of a nasty challenge by Jayden Bogle towards the end of the first half. The Leeds United defender wasn't even booked, having not been shown a yellow card before the Video Assistant Referee intervened and spent four minutes weighing up whether to issue a red card.

The Tottenham winger was forced off a few moments later, coming off for Dominic Solanke. He had done well before falling victim to some rather bizarre officiating...

Omar Marmoush – 3

Omar Marmoush produced a rather tame effort when Tottenham first carved open Leeds United in the first half, courtesy of some nice play by Archie Gray and Andy Robertson. Had the Lilywhites striker, who eventually shifted out wide when Dominic Solanke came on, held his nerve and offloaded the ball to his right, Mohammed Kudus could've broken the deadlock. Underwhelming.

Substitutes

Dominic Solanke – 5

Dominic Solanke wasn't provided much service, but he proved helpful at the back, blocking a strike from close range to keep the score level.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5

Dejan Kulusevski was okay, but didn't have the desired impact off the bench.

Conor Gallagher – 5

Conor Gallagher struck narrowly wide shortly after coming on, testing James Trafford with a low and hard effort from just outside of the box.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 5

Although Rodrigo Bentancur wasn't entirely to blame for the opener, he was beaten far too easily by Noah Okafor.

Luca Williams-Barnett – 6

In Luca Williams-Barnett's first action, he created a great chance, but there was no one in the box to level proceedings.

Tottenham Hotspur starting lineup vs Leeds United: Antonin Kinksy; Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven (C), Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson; Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Archie Gray; Mohammed Kudus, Omar Marmoush, Mathys Tel.

Substitutes: Luca Gunter; Ben Davies, Marcos Senesi; Conor Gallagher, James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur; Luca Williams-Barnett, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke.
