Mokwana's Arrival Adds More Firepower To Kaizer Chiefs' Wing Options

Kaizer Chiefs could have another exciting attacking option to look forward to as the club continues to strengthen its attacking department, with Elias Mokwana bringing qualities that could add a different dimension to the team's wing play.

Chiefs supporters have always appreciated players who are not afraid to take on defenders, attack open spaces and use their individual ability to create opportunities in the final third. These are the qualities that make attacking football entertaining, and Mokwana has the potential to offer exactly that kind of threat.

The winger's ability to operate in wide areas, carry the ball forward and challenge opposition defenders could provide the technical team with additional tactical flexibility. In modern football, having players who can create something out of difficult situations is extremely important, particularly when opponents defend deep and leave limited space around the penalty area.

The 27-year-old's return to South Africa comes after an important spell abroad. He joined Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis from Sekhukhune United in 2024, where he gained valuable experience competing at a higher level. During the 2024/25 campaign, he contributed three goals and two assists in 25 appearances across competitions, helping the club win the domestic league and cup double. He also featured at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup before spending the 2025/26 season on loan at Saudi Arabian side Al Hazem.

His arrival at Naturena is particularly significant because he grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs. The Bafana Bafana international has previously spoken about his disappointment when an opportunity to join Amakhosi failed to materialise before his move to Tunisia. Now, he finally has the chance to represent the club he supported as a youngster.

Mokwana also arrives at a time when Chiefs are looking to improve their attacking consistency. His versatility gives coach Fernando da Cruz another option when selecting his forward line, particularly when the team needs more pace, width and creativity against difficult opponents.

However, supporters should be patient regarding his immediate involvement. Da Cruz has indicated that the winger will need time to regain full match readiness because he did not complete a proper pre-season. The upcoming FIFA international break is expected to provide an opportunity for his gradual integration into the squad.

For Chiefs, the signing represents more than simply adding another name to the squad. It brings international experience, competition for attacking positions and a player who understands the expectations associated with wearing the famous gold and black jersey.

Mokwana will now be expected to turn that opportunity into consistent performances and help Amakhosi become more dangerous in the final third. If he can reproduce the confidence, pace and directness that made him an exciting player at Sekhukhune United, his arrival could become an important addition to Chiefs' attacking ambitions.

The Amakhosi faithful will certainly be hoping that Mokwana brings the kind of entertaining wing play they have always enjoyed watching.
