Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi has opened up about the demanding coaching methods introduced by head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, providing insight into how the Buccaneers squad has adjusted to the Moroccan tactician’s strict approach to discipline, accountability and team performance.

Since taking charge of the Soweto giants, Ouaddou has established high expectations for his players, demanding commitment, tactical discipline and consistency both during training sessions and competitive matches.

The coach’s uncompromising personality has attracted considerable attention, particularly when he publicly expresses dissatisfaction with players who fail to meet his expectations. His approach has reportedly challenged members of the squad to take greater responsibility for their performances and maintain professional standards.

Sibisi, who plays an important leadership role within the team, believes adapting to the coach’s philosophy has been an important part of the squad’s development. The captain understands that Ouaddou expects every player to contribute positively and execute their responsibilities on the pitch.

Although the coach’s methods can be demanding, the Pirates captain recognises the importance of discipline and accountability in building a competitive team. Players are expected to accept criticism, learn from their mistakes and demonstrate improvements in subsequent performances.

As captain, Sibisi also has the responsibility of helping maintain unity within the dressing room while ensuring that communication between the players and technical team remains effective.

Ouaddou’s philosophy places particular emphasis on organisation, concentration and collective responsibility. His expectations extend beyond individual talent, as he wants every member of the squad to understand the importance of working together towards the club’s objectives.

With Orlando Pirates competing for domestic silverware and facing important CAF Champions League assignments, adapting to the coach’s demanding standards could prove crucial.

The Buccaneers will now hope that the squad’s growing understanding of Ouaddou’s football philosophy translates into consistent performances and successful results as they continue their campaign.

For Sibisi and his teammates, maintaining discipline, accepting responsibility and remaining united will be essential to achieving their ambitions this season.
