Cardoso's Message to Sundowns Fans as the Brazilians Fight to Regain Momentum

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has called on the club's supporters to continue standing behind the team as the Brazilians look to overcome disappointment and pursue more silverware this season.

The Portuguese coach has acknowledged the importance of the fans' support, particularly during difficult periods when results do not meet expectations. His message comes after Sundowns suffered a disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League, before responding with a 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout Cup on Tuesday, 27 October 2026.

The victory provided some relief for the Tshwane giants, who had been under pressure following their failure to progress in Africa's premier club competition.

Cardoso understands that disappointing results can affect the confidence of players and supporters. However, he believes the team must remain focused on its objectives and work hard to deliver better performances in the matches ahead.

The coach has expressed gratitude to the Sundowns faithful for their continued encouragement, emphasising the importance of their backing as the club seeks to regain momentum. For a team with such high ambitions, maintaining a strong relationship with supporters is essential, especially when the pressure to succeed increases.

Sundowns have established themselves as one of the dominant forces in South African football, winning multiple domestic titles and competing regularly on the continental stage. Consequently, expectations remain high whenever the team takes to the pitch.

Supporters want to see their club competing for the Betway Premiership title while also making a strong impression in cup competitions. The Champions League disappointment was therefore a significant setback, but it does not mean the club's entire season has been decided.

Cardoso and his technical team must now concentrate on ensuring that the players respond positively and maintain the consistency required to challenge for trophies.

The squad possesses considerable quality and experience, giving the Brazilians the resources needed to compete at the highest level. Nevertheless, that quality must translate into convincing performances and important victories.

The recent Carling Knockout success against Marumo Gallants offered an opportunity to rebuild confidence. The challenge now is to build on that result and demonstrate greater consistency in upcoming fixtures.

For the supporters, the hope is that their continued backing will be rewarded with improved performances and more reasons to celebrate.

Cardoso's message serves as a reminder that football success requires collective effort. While the responsibility ultimately rests with the players and coaching staff to deliver results, supporters remain an important part of the club's identity.

As Sundowns continue their campaign, attention will turn to whether the Brazilians can regain their best form and meet the expectations of their passionate supporters.
