USM Alger have landed in Pretoria for the Caf Super Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns. The match will be played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday at 3pm.
The Algerian club will be out for revenge after losing twice to Masandawana in the Champions League six years ago, and are targeting the trophy.
Here are five key things to know about them ahead of Sunday's final:
They will be playing for their second Caf Super Cup title. They previously won the trophy in 2023 with a 1-0 victory over Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
They booked their place in this final by winning the Caf Confederation Cup, beating Egypt's Zamalek 8-7 on penalties after the tie finished 1-1 on aggregate in a dramatic final.
USM Alger and Sundowns have faced each other twice before in official Caf competition, in the 2019/20 Champions League group stage, with Masandawana winning both matches.
There is big money at stake. The winners will receive $500,000 (about R8.2m), while the runners-up will take home $250,000 (R4.1m).
The team is coached by renowned Senegalese tactician Lamine N'Diaye. He is highly respected on the continent, having previously won the Champions League, Confederation Cup and Super Cup.
