Orlando Pirates Have Announced the Departure of Another Top Technical Staff, Check Out

Mandla Ncikazi's tenure as an assistant coach with the Orlando Pirates has come to an end, as the club has formally announced his resignation. Ncikazi is now preparing to take on the role of head coach for another Premier Soccer League (PSL) side.

The news broke on Thursday, October 22, 2026, and the Soweto giants confirmed that Ncikazi would be leaving the club to take on more responsibilities as a coach at another team.

After assisting head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and captain Ncikazi with the Pirates' domestic and continental campaigns, Ncikazi's departure will be a major shakeup on the technical staff.

The seasoned strategist has been an integral element of the coaching staff responsible for keeping the Buccaneers competitive in South African football, offering input into game planning, practice, and the team's general success.

His choice to take on the post of head coach gives him yet another chance to cement his place as a top technical figure in the PSL, where rivalry among teams is fierce.

Dr. Irvin Khoza, chairman of the Pirates, thanked Ncikazi for his work and gave him the club's permission as he continued his coaching career.

With our deepest appreciation and warmest wishes, Mandala departs. "Throughout his time with us, his contribution to Orlando Pirates has been evident," Khoza stated.

"We hope he finds success in his new endeavour and honour his desire to pursue this opportunity."

The statement emphasises that the club values Ncikazi's contributions and is ready to support his desire to seek other opportunities.

This is a great chance for Ncikazi to show off his management skills in one of the most competitive leagues on the continent, put his football philosophy into practice, and lead a club independently.

With high expectations at his new club, his experience at Orlando Pirates should be useful as he moves into a head coaching post.

As the Buccaneers go on with their season-long goals, they'll have to make some adjustments to their technical structure in light of his departure.

As he begins his new career chapter, Ncikazi will continue to be a known face in South African football, even if his stint as an assistant coach at the Soweto team comes to an end with his departure.
