Reports circulating on social media suggesting that Angolan club Wiliete Benguela could be disqualified from the CAF Champions League over winger Gilberto's eligibility have been disputed.

The rumours claim that Gilberto remains registered with Orlando Pirates, which would allegedly make him ineligible to represent Wiliete Benguela. However, the report argues that there is no basis for the speculation.

According to the claims, Orlando Pirates had ended their association with Gilberto before he returned to Angola, where he was unveiled by Wiliete Sport Clube de Benguela following a permanent transfer.

Gilberto was also reportedly registered for Wiliete's continental campaign and featured in the first preliminary round against Foresters, where he scored without any reported eligibility problems.

Furthermore, the report states that neither Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates nor the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has lodged an official protest over the player's registration.

Wiliete Benguela secured their place in the group stages after eliminating defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, with the tie reportedly decided on away goals.

While the rumours continue to circulate online, claims of a possible disqualification should be treated with caution until verified information or an official statement from CAF becomes available.
