Pirates Explain Why Sébastien Pédersen Has Missed the Last Two Games Despite Being Fit

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has explained why striker Sébastien Pédersen has been absent from the team's last two domestic matches, despite reportedly being fit and available for training.

The Norwegian forward's absence has raised questions among Orlando Pirates supporters, particularly because he has not been included in the squad for recent domestic fixtures. His situation has attracted even more attention following his reported omission from the club's CAF Champions League squad registration.

However, Ouaddou has moved to reassure supporters that there is no problem involving the striker. The coach expressed satisfaction with Pédersen's commitment and how he has integrated into the team since joining the Buccaneers.

According to Ouaddou, the forward's absence is largely connected to the competition for places within the attacking department. Orlando Pirates have several options available up front, including Evidence Makgopa and Boitumelo Radiopane, making it difficult for every striker to receive regular playing time.

The coach explained that the technical team is working to help Pédersen settle into the squad while preparing him for the demands of competitive football.

Ouaddou also indicated that the club is carefully managing the striker's physical preparation. Adapting to a new football environment can take time, particularly when a player needs to adjust to different tactical demands and playing conditions.

The coach revealed that the technical team wants Pédersen to build up his match fitness and be ready to contribute when the right opportunity arrives.

This suggests that the forward's situation is not necessarily a sign that he has fallen out of favour with the coaching staff. Instead, the club appears to be taking a measured approach to his integration while considering the options already available in attack.

For Orlando Pirates, having several strikers competing for places can be beneficial over a long season. It gives the coach different tactical options and allows him to manage the workload of his attacking players across domestic and continental competitions.

However, the situation also presents a challenge for Pédersen, who will be eager to earn minutes and demonstrate what he can offer the team.

The forward will need to remain patient, continue working hard in training and take advantage of any opportunity that comes his way. Strong performances could help him compete more effectively for a place in the matchday squad.

Pirates supporters will now be watching closely to see when Pédersen makes his next appearance. Although his absence has prompted questions, Ouaddou's comments suggest that the club remains committed to helping him settle in and prepare for his opportunity.

For now, the striker's immediate task is to keep working towards full match readiness and convince the technical team that he deserves a place in the starting lineup.
