Forgotten Orlando Pirates striker who is pocketing R1,8 million visits his home in Snake Park

Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa has reminded football supporters of his strong connection to his roots after sharing pictures from a recent visit to Snake Park in Soweto, the community where he spent his childhood.

The 27-year-old forward, popularly known as Zakes, took to his official Instagram account on Monday to share moments from his visit to his hometown. Despite enjoying a professional football career with one of South Africa's biggest football clubs, Lepasa showed that he has not forgotten where his journey began.

In the photographs, the Pirates striker was seen enjoying a cup of coffee in the familiar surroundings of Snake Park. He also attracted attention by showing off his impressive physical condition, particularly his well-defined abdominal muscles.

Accompanying the pictures was a simple caption that read, "Morning coffee", giving supporters a glimpse into his personal life away from the demands of professional football.

Lepasa's latest social media activity comes at a time when questions continue to surround his future at Orlando Pirates. His contract with the Soweto giants is reportedly expected to expire at the end of the current season, leaving uncertainty over whether he will remain at the club beyond that period.

The striker has also struggled to secure regular opportunities in the first team because of increased competition for attacking positions. According to his Transfermarkt profile, he did not make an appearance for the Buccaneers across all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign.

Reports have previously indicated that Lepasa earns approximately R150,000 per month at Pirates, translating to around R1.8 million annually.

His limited involvement has inevitably raised questions about his long-term prospects at the club, with speculation continuing over a possible departure when the season concludes.

Nevertheless, his visit to Snake Park offered a different perspective on the footballer, highlighting his continued attachment to the community that shaped his early years.

While his professional future remains uncertain, Lepasa's latest post suggests that his connection to Soweto remains as strong as ever.
