The Betway Premiership standings have changed following the latest round of fixtures, with Mamelodi Sundowns reclaiming first place after their victory over Durban City.

The Brazilians moved back to the summit after recording an impressive win, inspired by Thabang Matuludi's brace. Iqraam Rayners and Antonio Van Wyk also found the back of the net, while Jean Lwamba scored for Durban City.

The result ensured that Sundowns returned to the position they have been fighting to occupy as the league campaign continues.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates have strengthened their position against their Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, by opening an 11-point gap between the two clubs.

The Buccaneers' latest result has given them a significant advantage over Amakhosi in the league standings, putting additional pressure on Chiefs as they look to improve their position.

For Chiefs, the gap will be a concern, particularly given the expectations surrounding the club and its ambitions of competing near the top of the table.

AmaZulu also maintained their place among the leading teams, remaining third on the standings after their latest fixture.

The Durban-based side have enjoyed a positive spell, and their position reflects the progress they have made during the campaign.

Their continued presence in the top three will provide motivation as they attempt to remain competitive against the traditional title contenders.

However, Richards Bay remain one of the teams searching for their first league victory.

Their winless run is becoming an increasing concern, with the club needing to find a way to turn performances into positive results.

As the competition progresses, every point will become increasingly important, particularly for teams trying to move away from the bottom end of the standings.

With Sundowns back on top, Pirates creating a considerable gap over Chiefs and AmaZulu maintaining third place, the latest standings have provided several talking points.

The battle at the summit remains an important storyline, while the competition further down the table is also developing.

All eyes will now turn to the upcoming fixtures to see whether Sundowns can protect their position, Pirates can maintain their advantage over Chiefs and Richards Bay can finally secure their first league win.
