Kaizer Chiefs defender Emile Dortley has reportedly encountered another disciplinary problem after receiving his second red card of the 2026/27 season during the club’s meeting with Siwelele FC, according to a report by SuperSport.

The latest sending-off could result in another suspension for the young centre-back, potentially leaving head coach Fernando Da Cruz with fewer defensive options as Amakhosi prepare for their upcoming fixtures.

Dortley’s growing disciplinary record is becoming a concern for the Soweto giants, especially considering that he has now reportedly been dismissed twice this season. His first red card came during Kaizer Chiefs’ opening encounter against their city rivals Orlando Pirates.

The latest incident has therefore added another setback to what has been a challenging campaign for the defender. While he remains a promising young talent with qualities that could make him an important figure in the Chiefs defence, his repeated dismissals raise questions about his ability to maintain discipline during competitive matches.

For a player still working towards securing a regular place in the starting lineup, such incidents could affect his development and opportunities to contribute consistently to the team.

His possible absence would also create another selection headache for Da Cruz, who may have to reconsider his defensive arrangements depending on the length of the suspension.

Getting sent off can leave a team at a disadvantage, particularly when important fixtures are approaching. Dortley’s second dismissal in the same season makes it increasingly important for him to improve his decision-making and control during matches.

Kaizer Chiefs supporters will undoubtedly want to see the defender learn from these experiences rather than allow them to become a recurring problem.
