Football analyst Lindo Pep has expressed doubts over Abdeslam Ouaddou’s prospects of remaining at Orlando Pirates until the end of the season.
Pep questioned whether the Moroccan coach will still be in charge of the Buccaneers when the campaign reaches its conclusion, suggesting that the pressure surrounding the club could influence his tenure.
Ouaddou took charge of Orlando Pirates with expectations of maintaining the club’s competitive standards and building on its recent success. However, the early stages of a coaching tenure often come with intense scrutiny, particularly at a club where results and performances are closely monitored.
Speaking about Ouaddou’s situation, Pep said he would be surprised if the coach completes the entire season at Pirates.
“I’d be surprised if Ouaddou finishes the season,” Pep said, highlighting his uncertainty over the coach’s long-term future.
The comments have sparked discussion among supporters, with attention now focused on Ouaddou’s results, tactical approach and ability to meet the club’s expectations.
For Ouaddou, maintaining consistency will be crucial as the season progresses. Coaches at high-profile clubs are frequently judged by results, performances and their ability to compete for major honours, meaning periods of poor form can quickly increase pressure from supporters and the football fraternity.
Pirates will also have to balance domestic commitments with their broader ambitions, placing additional demands on the coaching staff and playing squad.
At this stage, Pep’s comments represent his personal assessment rather than confirmation that Pirates are considering a change in the technical team. Unless the club makes an official announcement, Ouaddou remains the coach and will be expected to continue working with the squad.
The coming months could therefore prove important in determining whether the Moroccan tactician can establish himself at Orlando Pirates and see out the campaign.
Pep’s prediction has nevertheless added another layer of intrigue to Ouaddou’s tenure, with supporters likely to watch the team’s results closely as the season develops.
