Sundowns Fans Can't Catch a Break: Dion Has Made Scoring Against Them a Habit

Bathusi Aubaas Delivers Midfield Masterclass as Sundowns Star Shines Against Golden Arrows

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bathusi Aubaas produced an outstanding performance in his side's encounter against Golden Arrows, delivering what could arguably be regarded as one of his finest displays since joining the Brazilians.

The midfielder showcased his quality, composure and tactical intelligence in the middle of the park, playing a crucial role in Sundowns' overall performance with an impressive combination of passing accuracy, ball progression, defensive contributions and attacking involvement.

Aubaas was particularly influential in possession, registering an impressive 99 touches while completing 84 of his 89 attempted passes, giving him an outstanding passing accuracy of 94%.

His ability to move the ball forward was equally impressive. The former TS Galaxy midfielder completed 17 of his 19 attempted passes into the final third, achieving an accuracy of 89%. He also recorded eight accurate long passes from 10 attempts, demonstrating his ability to switch play and create opportunities for his teammates.

Beyond his distribution, Aubaas displayed confidence when carrying the ball, completing both of his attempted dribbles and recording four progressive carries. His contribution in the attacking third was further highlighted by 20 accurate passes from 24 attempts, alongside one key pass.

However, it was not only his technical ability that stood out. The midfielder also demonstrated his defensive awareness, making three recoveries and two interceptions while winning four of his seven duels.

These numbers underline the all-round nature of his performance, with Aubaas contributing effectively in both phases of the game.

His statistics against Golden Arrows paint the picture of a midfielder who was comfortable dictating the tempo, helping his team retain possession and providing defensive protection when required.

The performance comes as an encouraging development for Sundowns, particularly as the club continues to demand consistency and high standards from its midfield department.

Aubaas has had to compete for opportunities in a squad filled with quality midfielders, making every opportunity to impress particularly important. His latest display could strengthen his case for a more prominent role in the team's plans.

With his physical presence, passing range and ability to operate under pressure, the midfielder possesses qualities that can make him an important option for the technical team.

His performance was rewarded with an impressive 7.8/10 rating, further underlining his influence against Abafana Bes'thende.

While individual statistics do not always tell the complete story of a football match, Aubaas' numbers demonstrate just how influential he was on this occasion.

If he can reproduce this level of performance consistently, the Sundowns midfielder could become an increasingly important figure in the Brazilians' pursuit of domestic and continental success.
