Bobby Motaung is making sure everyone at Naturena knows he is still a big part of Kaizer Chiefs, even with his job description changing. The Motaung name is tied to this club for good. His father, Dr Kaizer Motaung, founded Amakhosi back in 1970, and Bobby says he carries a personal and moral duty to protect everything that legacy stands for. For him, it is about family as much as football.
Bobby has been around the club for years and has long been one of the people quietly pulling strings behind the scenes. That influence has not always gone down well. Plenty of fans have questioned his role in football matters, from recruitment to big calls on the managerial side. Now he seems happy to step back into a more supportive role, where he can pass on his experience and guidance to the current leadership while still keeping a hand in the decisions that shape the club.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs faithful are not in a patient mood. After several rough seasons, supporters want real progress, a clear long-term plan, smarter signings and stronger football management. They want their team challenging for major trophies again, not just hoping for a good run.
The pressure is building as the club heads into what could be another defining chapter. All eyes are on the Motaung family to bring back the Amakhosi glory days. For Bobby, though, the mission is bigger than any job title, and he is not going anywhere.
So tell us in the comments, does Bobby Motaung still belong in the Chiefs boardroom, or is it finally time for the Motaung family to hand over the keys?
