Etiosa Ighodaro could be facing an uncertain future at Kaizer Chiefs after struggling to establish himself as an important member of the squad since joining the Soweto giants. The Nigerian striker has found regular playing opportunities difficult to come by under head coach Fernando da Cruz, raising questions about his long-term prospects at Naturena.
According to a report published by The Citizen on November 2, 2026, Ighodaro has made seven appearances across all competitions for Amakhosi this season but is yet to score a goal. His lack of goals and limited involvement have increased scrutiny surrounding his contribution to the team's attacking department.
The 25-year-old arrived at Chiefs with expectations of strengthening the club's forward line, having previously shown promising qualities during his time at AmaZulu. However, he has struggled to reproduce those performances in a Chiefs shirt, with competition for attacking positions making his situation even more challenging.
Da Cruz has also suggested that the striker still needs time to understand the team's playing philosophy. The Chiefs coach believes Ighodaro is still adapting to the tactical demands of the club, while the technical team continues working with him to improve his overall performances.
His last appearance for Amakhosi came in September during their Betway Premiership encounter against Golden Arrows, when he was introduced as a substitute for Luke Baartman. He has not featured since that match, further highlighting his difficulties in securing a place in the team.
Although speculation about his future continues to grow, Kaizer Chiefs have not officially announced any decision to release or transfer the Nigerian forward.
Ighodaro still has an opportunity to revive his Chiefs career, but he will need to demonstrate significant improvement in training and make the most of any opportunities presented to him. With competition increasing, the striker faces an important period in his efforts to secure his future at Naturena.
