Siyanda Ndlovu Speaks Out On Emotional Sundowns Goal Against Former Club Arrows

Siyanda “Skhwishi” Ndlovu experienced a night of contrasting emotions on Sunday as his impressive performance helped Mamelodi Sundowns secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership.

The young attacker, who made the move from Arrows to Sundowns at the beginning of the season, played a decisive role in the encounter. Ndlovu opened the scoring against the club where he developed as a footballer, before contributing to the build-up that resulted in Sundowns’ second goal.

While the goal was crucial to Sundowns’ pursuit of another three points, Ndlovu admitted that finding the back of the net against his former employers was emotionally difficult.

“I’m happy that we won today. But scoring against my former team… it hurts a little,” Ndlovu said after the match.

The attacker explained that Arrows remains an important part of his football journey, making the moment particularly complicated.

“It hurts because it is the team I grew up at, the team I played for before moving to Sundowns. But work is work,” he added.

Despite the emotional circumstances, Ndlovu was delighted that Sundowns managed to overcome a challenging Arrows side and collect maximum points.

“I’m happy with today’s game. We worked hard with the guys. It was not easy at all, but we managed to get the three points in the end,” he said.

The victory also highlighted Sundowns’ ability to remain composed under pressure. Arrows continued to push for an equaliser during the closing stages, forcing the Brazilians to defend their advantage.

According to Ndlovu, communication and unity within the Sundowns dressing room played an important role in helping the team see out the match.

“I think what helped us was the understanding and teamwork within the team,” he explained.

The young attacker revealed that his teammates continuously encouraged one another and reminded themselves to remain focused as the final whistle approached.

“The way we were working… we kept reminding each other that there was not much time left and that we should keep pushing. I think that is what helped us most to get the result today.”

For Ndlovu, the performance was another significant step in his adaptation to life at one of South Africa’s biggest clubs. His direct contribution against his former side demonstrated his growing influence and ability to make an impact when Sundowns need him.

More importantly, the result strengthened Sundowns’ position at the top of the Betway Premiership standings, providing further momentum as the Brazilians continue their campaign.

For Ndlovu, however, the victory came with a reminder of his past one that he had to put aside temporarily to deliver for his new club.
