Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies began their 2026 CAF Women's Champions League campaign with a goalless draw against Egyptian side Masar on Sunday afternoon.

The South African champions earned an away point after both teams played out a 0-0 stalemate at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt.

The opening fixture provided Sundowns Ladies with an opportunity to begin their continental campaign on a positive note, although they were unable to find the breakthrough against their opponents.

Despite the absence of goals, securing a point away from home gives the South African side something to build on as they continue their pursuit of the CAF Women's Champions League title.

Masar also had the advantage of playing in familiar surroundings, with the Egyptian representatives looking to make their home fixture count. However, Sundowns Ladies managed to keep the hosts from scoring, ensuring that the encounter ended without either side finding the back of the net.

The result means Sundowns Ladies will have to turn their attention to their remaining group-stage fixtures, where collecting maximum points will be important in their efforts to progress further in the competition.

The club has established itself as one of the leading forces in African women's football, and expectations will remain high as the team seeks another successful continental campaign.

Although a victory would have provided a stronger start, the draw keeps Sundowns Ladies in contention and gives them an opportunity to improve in their next outing.

Their defensive performance will offer some encouragement, but the coaching staff will also be looking for greater attacking effectiveness in the matches ahead.
