Mandla Ncikazi Returns to Golden Arrows After Orlando Pirates Departure

Mandla Ncikazi has reportedly been unveiled as the new head coach of Golden Arrows following his departure from Orlando Pirates, marking his return to the Durban-based club for a new chapter in his coaching career.

The experienced South African tactician returns to Abafana Bes’thende after previously enjoying success with the club. His appointment comes shortly after Pirates confirmed his departure from their technical team, bringing an end to his five-year association with the Soweto giants.

Ncikazi's exit has attracted attention because it comes just a week before the highly anticipated Soweto Derby, although his departure represents a new opportunity to take charge of a team where he previously demonstrated his coaching abilities.

During his first spell at Golden Arrows in the 2020/21 campaign, Ncikazi guided the club to an impressive fourth-place finish in the league. That achievement established his reputation as a coach capable of building a competitive team and challenging some of the biggest clubs in South African football.

His return will raise expectations among Golden Arrows supporters, who will hope he can reproduce the consistency and organisation that characterised his earlier tenure.

At Orlando Pirates, Ncikazi worked alongside different head coaches and gained valuable experience competing in domestic and continental competitions. His time at the club exposed him to the demands of working within a high-pressure environment where results and trophies remain important expectations.

Golden Arrows will now hope to benefit from that experience as they seek to improve their performances in the Betway Premiership.

Ncikazi's immediate challenge will be to assess the squad, identify weaknesses and implement a tactical system that suits the available players. Although his familiarity with the club could ease his transition, replicating his previous success will require hard work and consistent results.

His return represents an important appointment for Golden Arrows as the club looks to strengthen its position in the league. Supporters will closely monitor whether Ncikazi can restore the team's competitiveness and guide Abafana Bes’thende towards another successful campaign.
