The dream of representing Bafana Bafana remains alive for several South African footballers, including Orlando Pirates stars Tshegofatso Mabasa and Mohau Nkota's teammate, Titus. However, according to Fadlu Davids, consistent performances will be crucial if they hope to catch the attention of national team coach Pitso Mosimane.

Davids has emphasised that players seeking a place in the national team must demonstrate quality and consistency throughout the domestic season. While individual talent is important, he believes sustained performances at club level will play a significant role in determining who deserves a call-up.

Speaking to FARPost, Davids explained that players must perform regularly in the league rather than relying on occasional impressive displays.

"I think to get into the Bafana team you need consistency. They have to show consistent performances in the league throughout the season," Davids said.

His comments highlight the importance of maintaining high standards week after week, particularly for players hoping to establish themselves among South Africa's best footballers.

Davids also suggested that competing for major honours could strengthen the players' chances of attracting the national coach's attention.

According to him, challenging for domestic league titles, cup competitions and the CAF Champions League would provide an additional boost to their international ambitions.

Playing in high-pressure matches and helping their club achieve important results can demonstrate a player's ability to perform when the stakes are high.

However, Davids was careful not to interfere with the national team's selection process. He stressed that the final decision belongs to Mosimane, who must evaluate all available players before making his choices.

"It’s not for me to tell coach Pitso who to choose," he explained.

For Mabasa, Titus and other hopefuls, the message is straightforward: consistency, quality and strong performances are essential.

With competition for places in Bafana Bafana expected to remain intense, every league match presents an opportunity to make a statement.

Ultimately, their ability to deliver throughout the season could determine whether their international dreams become reality.
