Chippa United’s coaching situation has attracted renewed attention, with experienced coach Dan Malesela reportedly facing uncertainty over his next move following his renewed association with club chairman Siviwe Mpengesi.
Malesela has enjoyed several spells as head coach of the Eastern Cape-based club. His history with Chippa United has often drawn interest because of the club’s frequent changes in the technical department. However, there is no confirmed announcement indicating that he is set to return to the senior coaching position.
The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns player has built considerable experience in South African football. Beyond his previous coaching responsibilities, Malesela has also been involved in football development through the Africa Football School of Excellence, which was reportedly acquired by Mpengesi’s company in late 2025.
Meanwhile, Chippa United are currently working under head coach Brandon Truter. The team’s reported 4-0 defeat to Golden Arrows in the Carling Knockout Cup on Saturday, 24 October 2026, has added further pressure as supporters assess the club’s performances.
Truter has reportedly responded to speculation about his future by highlighting the progress he believes the team has made compared with the previous season. He has also stressed the importance of giving coaches time to implement their ideas, while acknowledging the pressure to deliver positive results.
Malesela’s next move therefore remains a subject of interest. Questions remain over whether he will continue concentrating on player development or eventually return to senior-team coaching.
For now, supporters will have to wait for an official announcement before drawing conclusions about his future at Chippa United.
What do you think? Should Chippa United continue giving Brandon Truter time to improve the team, or would a coaching change be the right decision? Share your thoughts in the comments.
