Kaizer Chiefs Reveal How They Plan to Hurt Red Arrows and Secure a Win

Kaizer Chiefs have announced their strategy to defeat Red Arrows in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup matchup as they strive for a spot in the next round of the tournament.

Entering Friday's crucial match, Amakhosi trail 1-0 following their loss in the first leg in Zambia. With their chances to advance still intact, the Soweto club is focused on delivering a stronger performance to achieve the necessary result.

Goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner stated that the team's primary goal is to score an early goal and then aim for a second one, while also emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean sheet to successfully mount a comeback. "It’s straightforward, but our first job is to get one goal and then go for another while keeping a clean sheet," Leaner noted, highlighting the need for a balance between attack and defense in a match where a single error could be costly. They must find the scoresheet while ensuring that Red Arrows do not extend their lead.

Allowing a goal would complicate things for the Chiefs, who are already behind on aggregate, making defensive discipline vital throughout the match.

Leaner also mentioned that the coaching staff has reviewed their previous defeat to pinpoint improvements. This analysis has centered on understanding the Red Arrows' tactics and identifying potential vulnerabilities that Amakhosi can exploit in the upcoming game. "We’ve studied our mistakes in Zambia and observed their gameplay, looking for areas we can leverage against their weaknesses," he explained.

This preparation indicates that the Chiefs are seeking tactical adjustments instead of relying solely on determination for victory. Their success in executing these changes during the match could significantly impact the result.

Despite the match's pressure, Leaner is optimistic about the team's chances. "We believe we can succeed on Friday," he added.

Competing at Moses Mabhida Stadium gives Chiefs a chance to respond in front of their fans, but they will need to transform that support into a strong performance against a Red Arrows team eager to defend their lead.

The second leg is set for Friday, October 23, 2026, with a kick-off at 18:00. This match will test Chiefs' offensive prowess, defensive structure, and ability to handle pressure.

For Amakhosi, the objective is clear: score enough goals to overturn the deficit while preventing Red Arrows from scoring. Whether their tactical preparations will suffice for a comeback will be revealed when the teams face off in Durban.
