Kaizer Chiefs Plot Another Big Signing? Fresh Mokwana Developments Leave Fans Talking

Kaizer Chiefs could be preparing for an important transfer decision after Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana emerged as a potential addition to the Soweto giants' squad. Speculation surrounding the player's future has intensified, with reports indicating that discussions about a possible move to Naturena are continuing.

The 27-year-old attacker is currently a free agent following his departure from Tunisian football giants Espérance de Tunis. His availability has attracted attention in South African football, particularly as Chiefs continue looking for ways to strengthen their attacking department.

According to reports published on 27 October 2026, Mokwana's representatives have offered his services to Kaizer Chiefs after a proposed move to Moroccan club Wydad Athletic Club reportedly collapsed. However, the club has not officially confirmed that an agreement has been reached.

Mokwana previously established himself as an exciting attacking player during his time at Sekhukhune United. His impressive performances earned him an opportunity to move abroad and join Espérance in 2024.

He subsequently gained experience in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hazem before returning to Tunisia.

His pace, ability to take on defenders and attacking creativity could make him an attractive option for Chiefs, particularly as the club looks to improve its attacking consistency.

Head coach Fernando da Cruz has been linked with efforts to strengthen his attacking options, and Mokwana's availability presents an opportunity worth

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has publicly encouraged the club to consider signing the Bafana Bafana international.

Khune believes Mokwana possesses qualities that could make him an important addition to the Amakhosi squad.

He even compared the winger's playing style to former Chiefs favourite Jabu "Shuffle" Pule, now known as Jabu Mahlangu, highlighting his confidence, creativity and willingness to challenge defenders.

Khune also believes Mokwana's international and continental experience could benefit younger players at Naturena.

Despite the growing excitement among supporters, several important questions remain unanswered.

Chiefs already have attacking options, including Wandile Duba, Pule Mmodi, Faiz Abrahams, Asanele Velebayi and Langelihle Phili.

Bringing Mokwana into the squad would therefore increase competition for attacking positions.

His status as a free agent could also make the potential signing financially attractive because Chiefs would not need to negotiate a transfer fee with another club.

For now, supporters will have to wait for an official announcement.

Whether Mokwana eventually wears the famous gold and black jersey remains uncertain, but his possible arrival has certainly created excitement around Naturena.
