Rice Rescues Arsenal Against Bayern as Manchester United Suffer Humiliating Defeat
Arsenal maintained their unbeaten start to the UEFA Champions League campaign after securing a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich, thanks to a crucial late equaliser from Declan Rice on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Manchester United endured a disappointing evening in Europe, suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat against Italian side Como, while Real Madrid continued their impressive campaign with a commanding victory over RB Leipzig.
The latest round of Champions League fixtures delivered plenty of drama, with several European heavyweights battling for valuable points in the league phase.
Rice Saves Arsenal Against Bayern Munich
Arsenal travelled to Germany knowing they faced one of their toughest challenges of the campaign against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Despite an early injury setback involving Bukayo Saka, the Gunners showed determination and attacking quality to compete against the Bundesliga giants.
Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 25th minute after connecting with an excellent pass from Martin Odegaard. The midfielder finished confidently to give the visitors an important advantage.
However, Bayern responded through Alphonso Davies, who equalised in the 35th minute after being set up by Harry Kane.
Kane then put the German champions ahead in the 61st minute, converting a penalty after Jurriën Timber was penalised for handball.
With Arsenal facing the prospect of their first defeat in the competition this season, Rice stepped up when his team needed him most.
The England international fired home in the 82nd minute to secure a valuable 2-2 draw and preserve Arsenal's unbeaten record in the league phase.
The result leaves Mikel Arteta's side with seven points from three matches.
Manchester United Suffer Como Nightmare
Manchester United endured a night to forget after being thrashed 4-1 by Como in a result that will raise fresh questions about their European ambitions.
Como made an explosive start, with Nicolás Paz opening the scoring just two minutes into the match.
Tasos Douvikas extended the hosts' advantage after the break before Paz completed his impressive performance with another goal.
Jacobo Ramón added a fourth as Como produced a stunning attacking display. Joshua Zirkzee managed a late consolation for United, but it did little to change the outcome.
Real Madrid Maintain Perfect Record
Elsewhere, Real Madrid defeated RB Leipzig 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu to register their third consecutive victory in the competition.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring before Arda Güler doubled Madrid's advantage early in the second half.
Kylian Mbappé added a third with a powerful finish, while Leipzig's Tidiam Gomis briefly reduced the deficit. Yan Diomande then completed Madrid's victory with a spectacular volley.
José Mourinho's side now have nine points from three matches, strengthening their position in the Champions League standings.
With the league phase gathering momentum, Arsenal will take confidence from their resilience, while Manchester United must respond quickly to avoid further disappointment.
