Golden Arrows and Polokwane City will eye redemption in their respective Carling Knockout last 16 matches this weekend.
After a poor run in Betway Premiership games, the two clubs will have a chance to end that in the Carling Knockout.
Arrows will host Chippa United at King Zwelithini Stadium, while Rise and Shine will welcome Siwelele at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, both at 3pm on Saturday.
The teams have been under pressure after a string of poor results and enter the Carling Knockout matches following defeats in their previous league games.
Polokwane lost 1-0 to Siwelele last weekend and will look to avenge it, while Arrows suffered the same scoreline to Milford in the KwaZulu-Natal derby.
Arrows captain Ayanda Jiyane emphasised the importance of winning Saturday’s game to restore confidence after winning only once in their last eight league matches.
“The match is important for us,” he said. “Since we started this season, things have not been going the way we wanted, but we believe the way the preparations are going, we will win so we can get the confidence back when we return to league matches and we can start collecting points.
“We try as a team with all we have to bring the team back to winning ways, and it is important for us to win a trophy as players so we can have a cup to show. We need to win this game so we can get back to winning. The feeling of playing a final — we all want that.”
Elsewhere, AmaZulu will be eager to continue with their excellent form when they visit Kruger United at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday at 3pm.
Usuthu have been one of the in-form teams this season and sit third in the log. They will want to take that form to the cup competition, where they will look to advance to the next round.
In another match, Sekhukhune will host Richards Bay at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday at 6pm.
