Kaizer Chiefs is set to announce the signing of 27-year-old winger Elias Mokwana from Bafana. How will the former Sekhukhune player fit into the team's setup?

Possible Kaizer Chiefs lineup with Mokwana Petersen; Moloisane, Miguel, Dortley; Monyane, Maboe, Ndlovu, Mokwana; Shabalala, Vilakazi; Mayo.

The statistics aren’t very encouraging.

Mokwana joined Al Hazem in the Saudi Pro League on loan from Espérance in August 2025. The former Sekhukhune player made 24 appearances during the 2025-26 Saudi Pro League season, scoring once and providing three assists. This shows a low level of direct contributions to goals. In those 24 games, Mokwana received six yellow cards, averaging one card every four matches. This could be an even more concerning statistic. If the Glamour Boys want to help Mokwana perform at his best, they need to address this issue. In the 2023-24 season, Mokwana impressed with his play, scoring four goals and assisting four times in 25 league matches for Babina Noko.

Kaizer Chiefs are already 12 points behind the leaders, Sundowns, and they have only played nine matches this season. What can we learn from this? Are the players available to Da Cruz just not skilled enough, or is he not making the best use of a talented young team? The Glamour Boys were knocked out in the MTN8 quarter-finals by Golden Arrows, so there’s a lot riding on their upcoming Carling Knockout match against Siwelele.
