RULANI MOKWENA MAKES HISTORY AS PYRAMIDS FC SECURE 14TH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY

CAIRO, EGYPT — 4 NOVEMBER 2026

South African football coach Rulani Mokwena continues to make headlines on the international stage after guiding Egyptian giants Pyramids FC to an incredible 14th consecutive victory, further strengthening his reputation as one of Africa's most exciting coaching talents.

Mokwena's impressive winning streak continued on Tuesday night, 3 November, when Pyramids registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Smouha in the Egyptian League Cup.

The result marked another significant milestone for the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor, who has enjoyed a remarkable start since taking charge of the Egyptian outfit.

According to reports, Mokwena has now won all 14 matches since arriving at the club, demonstrating the consistency and winning mentality he has managed to establish within the squad.

The latest victory was particularly important because it came away from home against a Smouha side determined to frustrate Pyramids. However, Mokwena's team showed the determination required to secure maximum points despite the difficult contest.

The victory also continued Pyramids' positive start to the Egyptian League Cup campaign. They had previously opened their group-stage participation with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Al Qanah.

With six points collected from their opening two matches, Pyramids currently sit at the top of their group, maintaining a perfect record in the competition.

For Mokwena, the achievement represents more than simply an impressive collection of victories. It highlights how quickly he has managed to implement his football philosophy and build confidence within a team competing across different competitions.

The 39-year-old South African previously attracted considerable attention through his work at Mamelodi Sundowns, where he enjoyed domestic success before taking his coaching career beyond South African borders.

His experience also includes spells at Wydad Casablanca, MC Alger and Al Ittihad Tripoli, giving him valuable exposure to different football environments across the continent.

His latest achievement in Egypt is particularly encouraging for South African football, with Mokwena continuing to represent the country's coaching talent on a bigger international platform.

Pyramids will now turn their attention to their next assignment, a Round of 32 encounter against El Daklyeh in the Egypt Cup.

The challenge will be to maintain their extraordinary momentum as expectations continue to grow around the team.

With 14 victories already secured, Mokwena has given Pyramids supporters plenty of reasons to believe that an exciting season could be ahead.
