Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Peter Ndlovu has made a dream start to his coaching career, guiding Zimbabwean champions Scottland FC to a 1-0 victory over CAPS United in his very first match in charge. The former Zimbabwe international was appointed interim head coach following the dismissal of Norman Mapeza, who parted ways with the club after their elimination from the CAF Champions League .

The decisive moment came early in the encounter, with Emmanuel Jalai finding the back of the net in the sixth minute to hand Ndlovu a winning debut in Harare . While the performance was not dominant, the result was exactly what the former Sundowns team manager needed as he looks to stabilize a squad reeling from their continental disappointment and the sudden overhaul of their technical team .

Speaking after the match, Ndlovu expressed his relief and satisfaction at securing maximum points at the first time of asking. "I am happy to have won at the first time of asking," he said. "What I am happy about today is, perhaps not the performance itself, but the way these boys were together today, in everything" . He acknowledged that his side faced significant pressure during the game but praised their discipline and resilience in holding onto the lead .

Ndlovu, who holds a CAF A Coaching Licence, stepped into the role after serving as the club's team manager, a position he previously held at Chloorkop with Mamelodi Sundowns . His appointment marks his first professional head coaching assignment, and he will be assisted by Danger Fourpence, with veteran forward Knowledge Musona taking on a player-coach role as the club seeks stability during the transition .

The victory provides an immediate confidence boost for Ndlovu, who now has a four-match audition to prove his credentials to Scottland's ambitious leadership . With the club still competing for domestic silverware and aiming to maintain pressure on league leaders, the former Warriors captain will be eager to build on this positive start and demonstrate that his legendary playing career can translate into success in the technical area .
