Forgotten Orlando Pirates striker who is pocketing R1,8 million visits his home in Snake Park

Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa, whose contract with the Soweto giants is expected to expire at the end of the current season, has shown that he still remembers his roots despite his professional football career.

The forward, popularly known as "Zakes" among football supporters, recently took to his official social media account to share pictures from a visit to his hometown, where he spent his childhood and grew up.

On Monday, Lepasa, who reportedly earns R150,000 per month, amounting to approximately R1.8 million annually at Orlando Pirates, posted several pictures on his Instagram account during his visit to Snake Park in Soweto.

The photographs showed the Pirates number nine enjoying a cup of coffee while spending time in the area where he was raised. He also used the opportunity to show off his impressive physical condition, including his well-defined abdominal muscles.

In the caption accompanying the pictures, the Orlando Pirates forward simply wrote, "Morning coffee".

Did you know?

Lepasa is currently facing an uncertain future at Orlando Pirates, having fallen down the pecking order at the club amid growing competition for places in the attacking department.

According to his player profile on German football statistics website Transfermarkt, the 27-year-old Soweto-born striker had not made a single appearance for the Buccaneers across all competitions during the 2024/25 Betway Premiership campaign.

His lack of playing opportunities has raised questions about his long-term future at the Houghton-based club, particularly with his contract reportedly approaching its expiry date.

With limited opportunities to feature for the first team, speculation continues over whether Lepasa could be among the players who leave Orlando Pirates when the season comes to an end.

His latest social media post, however, shows that despite his football career taking him to different places, he has maintained a connection with the community where his journey began.
