The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed the procedure for the 2026/27 Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final draw, which will take place immediately after the final Round of 16 match between Durban City and Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday, October 28.
The match is scheduled for 19:00 at Chatsworth Stadium, with the draw to follow the final whistle as the remaining teams discover their opponents for the last eight.
The PSL has confirmed that the quarter-final draw will use three pots: Pot A for the four seeded teams, Pot B for determining home and away teams, and Pot C for the four unseeded teams.
Under the procedure, the four seeded clubs will be selected according to their finishing positions in the previous season’s Betway Premiership, while the other four qualified teams will be placed in the unseeded pot. This arrangement ensures that each quarter-final tie features one seeded club and one unseeded club.
The draw will begin with one ball taken from Pot A and placed unopened into Pot B. A second ball will then be selected from Pot C and added to Pot B, also without being opened.
The two balls will subsequently be drawn from Pot B. The first team revealed will be designated as the home side, while the second will play away. The same process will be repeated until all four quarter-final fixtures and their home-and-away arrangements have been determined.
Four clubs have already secured their places in the quarter-finals: Golden Arrows, Siwelele FC, AmaZulu FC and Sekhukhune United. The remaining positions will be decided through Tuesday’s fixtures involving Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, followed by Wednesday’s encounter between Durban City and Stellenbosch FC.
The draw is expected to generate considerable interest among supporters, particularly with the competition’s leading clubs still fighting for a place in the final stages.
For the teams involved, qualification will bring them one step closer to lifting the Carling Knockout Cup, while the draw will determine the matchups for the quarter-final stage.
