Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba has responded to TS Galaxy following his hat-trick that led to Amakhosi’s 3-0 victory in the Carling Knockout Cup on Tuesday night.
Duba was awarded the Carling Man of the Match for his three goals, which also earned him a R100,000 prize. This victory advanced Chiefs to the next round of the tournament, and the young forward took the opportunity to address some recent online activity from Galaxy.
Prior to the game, TS Galaxy's social media post garnered attention by depicting the Rockets as a lion hunting a zebra, with Chiefs portrayed as the prey. While some fans deemed it playful banter, it caught the attention of the Chiefs players.
After the match, Duba acknowledged having seen Galaxy’s post and emphasized that he and his teammates were determined to secure a win. He ended his interview with a playful isiZulu comment, indicating that the “donkeys” made them run today, which seemed to directly reference the earlier post and signaled that the Chiefs players felt victorious.
For Duba, it was a memorable night. Scoring a hat-trick is always significant, but doing so in a knockout match against a team that had mocked his team added to the joy. The additional R100,000 was a nice bonus as well.
Chiefs are now awaiting their next opponent, and they are also looking forward to the upcoming Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, 31 October, with Duba eager to maintain his confidence in that match.
