The Starting XI That Could Turn Kaizer Chiefs Into Title Contenders

Kaizer Chiefs supporters have been given fresh hope of seeing a more dangerous attacking team following the emergence of a proposed starting line-up featuring Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana ahead of the ongoing 2025/26 season.

The suggested team has generated discussions among Amakhosi supporters, particularly those who believe the club needs to improve its attacking performances and become more clinical in front of goal. Under head coach Fernando da Cruz, Chiefs are expected to work towards building a more consistent team capable of competing strongly against their opponents.

The proposed starting XI combines experienced campaigners with promising young players, offering an interesting balance across different areas of the pitch. Brandon Petersen is tipped to start in goal, with Thabo Moloisane, Inacio Miguel and Rushwin Dortley forming the defensive unit.

Thabiso Monyane and Mokwana are expected to operate on the flanks, providing attacking width and supporting the team's offensive movements. Their pace and ability to push forward could help Chiefs create more opportunities, particularly when facing opponents who prefer to defend deep.

In midfield, Lebohang Maboe and Siphesihle Ndlovu would be responsible for controlling possession, winning challenges and linking the defensive department with the attacking players.

Further forward, Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi are proposed to operate behind striker Khanyisa Mayo. Their creativity, movement and ability to find spaces could provide the team with additional attacking options.

Mokwana's possible inclusion is particularly exciting because of his pace, direct running and ability to take on defenders. These qualities could give Chiefs another attacking weapon while creating opportunities for Mayo, Shabalala and Vilakazi to operate in dangerous positions.

However, the proposed starting XI has not been officially confirmed by the club. Da Cruz and his technical team will have the final responsibility for selecting the players.

Nevertheless, the suggestion has increased anticipation among Chiefs supporters hoping to see a more entertaining and effective attacking approach this season.
