Back-to-Back Wins for SA Coach Simo Dladla at Young Africans

South African coach Simo Dladla has made a strong start as interim head coach of Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC. On Sunday, his side thrashed Kagera Sugar FC 4-0 in the Tanzanian Premier League to claim a second successive victory.

The goals came thick and fast. Mamelodi Sundowns legend Peter Shalulile opened the scoring in the 27th minute for his second goal in two matches. Mohamed Hussein doubled the lead just six minutes later. Cheikh Toure then sealed the result with a late brace, scoring in the 88th and 90th minutes. The clinical finishing left Kagera Sugar with no answer.

The comfortable win moved Young Africans, also known as Yanga, to within two points of log leaders Simba SC. Simba sit on 18 points after six straight victories, while Yanga have played one more game. The result keeps the defending champions firmly in the title race.

Dladla stepped into the top job after the club parted ways with former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi in late October. He had joined Yanga earlier in the year as part of Mngqithi’s technical staff and was given the reins to steady the ship. The South African has previous experience in the domestic game, including spells at Richards Bay, Durban City and as assistant coach at AmaZulu.

Since taking charge, Dladla has focused on restoring confidence among the players and supporters. After his first win against Mashujaa FC, he spoke about the need for better finishing and high intensity. Sunday’s 4-0 result showed clear improvement in both areas, with the team looking more clinical in front of goal.

For Yanga fans, known as the Wananchi, the back-to-back wins offer early encouragement after a period of uncertainty. Dladla has repeatedly said the club’s main objective remains finishing at the top of the table. With the team now closer to Simba and looking sharp, the interim coach has given supporters real reason to believe the season can still end on a high note.

The victory also highlights the growing impact of South African coaches working abroad. Dladla’s positive early results at one of Tanzania’s biggest clubs will be closely watched back home as he continues to guide Yanga through a busy domestic and continental schedule.
