Simba SC defender Rushine De Reuck has called for improvements from his teammates despite the Tanzanian giants extending their impressive winning run in the league to nine consecutive matches.
Simba secured their ninth successive league victory after overcoming Fountain Gate in an away encounter, further strengthening their position in the competition. However, De Reuck believes the team must not allow the positive result to distract them from areas that require improvement.
The South African defender admitted that the encounter was far from straightforward, praising Fountain Gate for making life difficult for Simba throughout the match.
Reflecting on the performance, De Reuck said: "It was a difficult game away from home. I think Fountain Gate made it very difficult for us. I don't think we really came with the right energy today."
His assessment suggests that although Simba managed to secure maximum points, the players were not entirely satisfied with their overall display.
Playing away from home presented additional challenges, with Fountain Gate making efforts to disrupt Simba's rhythm and prevent them from dominating the contest.
De Reuck's comments also demonstrate the standards expected within the Simba squad as the club continues its pursuit of domestic success.
Winning nine consecutive league matches represents an impressive run, but the defender believes maintaining consistency will require greater concentration and improved performances from the entire team.
Simba have established themselves as one of Tanzania's leading football clubs, and their supporters will expect the players to continue delivering results as the season progresses.
However, De Reuck's message is clear: collecting three points is important, but the team must also pay attention to the quality of its performances.
The defender will now be hoping that Simba can build on their winning streak while addressing the shortcomings identified against Fountain Gate.
