AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has explained why his team is refusing to get carried away with title ambitions despite enjoying an impressive run of six consecutive victories in recent matches.

Usuthu have emerged as one of the most inform teams in the Premier Soccer League this season. Their impressive performances have lifted them to third position on the standings, leaving them just four points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. The club's recent progress has generated excitement among supporters, with many beginning to consider them serious contenders for the championship.

AmaZulu strengthened their position last weekend after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows in the Durban Derby at Princess Magogo Stadium. Striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya scored the decisive goal, continuing his impressive run in front of goal and helping his side collect another important three points.

The victory also extended AmaZulu's winning streak to six matches across all competitions, further demonstrating the team's growing confidence and consistency. However, despite the positive results and increasing expectations surrounding the club, Zwane remains determined to prevent his players from losing focus by becoming involved in premature title discussions.

The experienced coach has made it clear that the team's immediate priority is to approach every fixture with the right mentality rather than concentrating on their position in the championship race.

"Right now, we don't want to talk about league contenders or whatever," he said. "We are taking one game at a time," Zwane added.

He also explained that AmaZulu have a bigger objective for the current campaign, which is to secure qualification for continental football next season. According to him, the club wants to continue improving its performances and establish itself among teams capable of competing at a higher level in African football.

“But the mandate from our side is that we have to go to African football next season. We have been growing gradually and testing ourselves much better at that level so that these boys can grow and the value of the club,” he explained.

Zwane further believes that participating in continental competitions would provide valuable opportunities for his players to develop their abilities, gain experience and increase their professional value.

With six successive victories already secured, AmaZulu will be determined to maintain their momentum. Nevertheless, Zwane wants his squad to remain disciplined, concentrate on upcoming challenges and achieve their continental qualification target before considering championship ambitions.
