Orlando Pirates could be in for a crowded stretch in the Betway Premiership. Talks have reportedly started about possible changes to six of their league fixtures, and the adjustments could reshape how the club manages its schedule while juggling other competitions.
The matches in question involve some of the league's toughest opponents: Golden Arrows, Stellenbosch FC, Polokwane City, Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu and Kruger United. Discussions are reportedly underway to find new dates, but nothing is final. Any changes will depend on the outcome of negotiations and approval from the relevant football authorities.
The Sundowns clash stands out. A match between two of the country's traditional heavyweights could carry serious weight in the title race, and it always pulls big crowds. Stellenbosch, a side that has become a real force in the domestic game, is also part of the discussions. Games against Golden Arrows, Polokwane City and AmaZulu could matter just as much as Pirates work to stay consistent, while the Kruger United fixture adds one more piece to the puzzle.
For head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, the timing matters. Crowded fixture lists make it harder to manage player fitness, recovery and rotation, so a well-organised schedule would help him prepare his squad for the rest of the campaign. Fans who have already made travel or ticket plans will also be waiting for official word on new dates and kick-off times.
For now, supporters should hold off on assumptions and wait for confirmation from the Premier Soccer League and Orlando Pirates.
So what do you think, Bucs fans: should the league bend its schedule for Pirates, or should they play by the same calendar as everyone else?
