Despite the availability of historical facts, mythology remains dominant.
Former South African midfielder Jabu Mahlangu is a fan favourite for his flair and on-field prowess.
On July 11, 1980, in the city of Daveyton, in the province of Gauteng, a baby was born who would later be known as Jabu Jeremiah Mahlangu. His birth name was Jabu Jeremiah Pule. To honour his late father, Jabu changed his last name from Pule to Mhlangu at the start of 2006.
Mahlangu's debut in the professional leagues came with the Kaizer Chiefs. Outsmarting his competition helped him rise to fame, and he became known as "Shuffle" or "Ngwana wa Tshwenya," both of which mean "troublesome child."
An analyst with the South African Broadcasting Corporation claims that as soon as Pule starts singing, the opponent begins to dance (SABC). On the playing pitch, where he was competing, he won the hearts of the fans watching the action.
Pule had a lot of promise, but he struggled with things like self-control and other factors that had little to do with the game itself. His excessive alcohol consumption was largely blamed for his disruptive behaviour.
The following is a brief overview of his work experience:
Chiefs, Kaizer (1999-2004)
Pule's professional career began in 1999, and he stayed with the Kaizer Chiefs until 2004. He retired from Amakhosi after amassing 56 goals during his time there.
Despite a long list of infractions, Pule's bad behaviour was frequently overlooked due to the club's strong admiration for him.
However, the Chiefs' executives chose not to renew Pule's contract when it expired in 2004 because they had lost patience with him.
Mattersburg SV (2004-2005)
After being released by Amakhosi, Jabu signed with the German Bundesliga club SV Mattersburg. He played in all 22 games and helped the squad out with four points (two goals and two assists).
Because Pule crashed his automobile while under the influence, he was only allowed to return to work for the club for a total of eight months. Then he was told he had to leave the premises.
You could call them SuperSport United (2005-2006)
Pule rejoined the PSL after signing with SuperSport United. He made 22 appearances for Matsatsantsa and was twice taken to a treatment centre to deal with his substance abuse issues.
After a string of absences from training in the second half of 2005, Pule was let go from his role at SuperSport United.
Pirates of Orlando (2006-2007)
The Orlando Pirates' chairman, Dr. Irvin Khoza, decided to take a chance on the young football player because of his immense potential.
IF Osters
On June 23, 2008, Pule completed his training at Farouk Khan's academy in South Africa and departed the country to try out for the Swedish clubs Helsingborgs IF, IF Limhamn Bunkeflo, and sters IF. South Africa was the site of Pule's training.
For 13 games, he played for sters IF and showed no signs of the poor behaviour that had destroyed his career before. He had never before been in this position.
In 2014, while he was still in competition, he was signed by Supersport United.
For the love of Bafana! (2000-2004)
He played for the South African national football team from 2000 to 2004. During that time, he was also an Olympic and FIFA World Cup competitor in 2000 and 2002, respectively.
Former South African president Thabo Mbeki congratulated the team and shook their hands as they departed for the World Cup. He then went over to Jabu and said, "Jabu, you need to act yourself." Jabu needed to take responsibility for his own actions.
Your financial status and earnings:
Mahlangu's personal wealth is rumoured to be $2 million (R35 million). Over the course of his long professional football career, he was able to amass a considerable portion of this fortune.
Mahlangu reportedly signed two ambassador contracts in 2015 worth a total of R3.2 million. He signed a contract to be a role model and inspiration for young athletes with SuperSport United. The second deal was with a firm specialising in supersport analyses.
The narrative of Jabu Mahlangu is one that can inspire both sympathy and derision in its audience, but it can also show us that change is possible in our own lives.
