THAPELO Morena says Mamelodi Sundowns will leave everything on the pitch on Friday, 23 October.
The defender’s promised a fierce fight when the Brazilians face Wiliete SC in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round second leg at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Sundowns were held to a 0-0 draw by the Angolan side in Lubango on Sunday night, 18 October.
That left the tie wide open, with Sundowns needing a home performance to advance.
Morena said the players know what is expected of them.
“On Friday, we are going to put everything into the pitch. We are going to sweat blood, and no matter what, we are going to go through,” Morena said.
His message is clear: Sundowns don’t plan to let Wiliete spoil their African dream in Tshwane.
The first leg gave Sundowns plenty to think about after they failed to break down Wiliete away from home.
But playing at Loftus gives Miguel Cardoso’s men a chance to take control of the tie in front of their supporters.
Morena, who has been working his way back after a setback, also said he was happy to get minutes again.
“To be honest, I am very happy. It is something every player would like to see — coming back from a setback, getting minutes and also helping the team,” he said.
The experienced defender said representing Sundowns still means a lot to him.
“It is something that we all give to the team. I am always willing to give everything for this club because of everything it has done for me. It is something big and great,” he added.
His return gives Cardoso another option as Sundowns prepare for a match they cannot afford to take lightly.
Cardoso has already urged his players to treat the Wiliete clash like a final.
Wiliete will arrive in Pretoria with confidence after keeping Sundowns quiet in Angola.
But Sundowns will know the job is simple: win the tie and keep their CAF Champions League campaign alive.
With a place in the next round at stake, Morena has made one thing clear.
Sundowns are ready to fight until the final whistle.
