it wasn't 2015 Bama, but he did inherit the most talent in the country. Whether most of his teams at Bama were his players or Saban's, Deboer has had a top 3 talent team each year.

2024: #1
2025: #2
2026: #3
Except he didn't. Those are recruiting rank numbers and speak nothing to the amount of development and if they fit the scheme.
Development that was lacking because Saban had trouble getting quality assistants his final few years. They would get hired away almost immediately if they were decent.
Our OL hadn't been great for years. It was covered up slightly by mobile QBs like Bryce Young and Milroe.
And half the roster left when Saban retired. DeBoer was hired after the playoffs and didn't even get a real recruiting class his first year.
Our best players were often not Saban recruits, they were ones DeBoer brought in and salvaged from the transfer portal.
This is the first year we've seen anything that resembles the offense he wants with all the pulls and such. And really we are ahead of schedule due to the youth of the team.
Our biggest issue right now is a lack of depth. If we don't get healthy, we are fricked.
