Chelsea supporters have made their feelings clear over Wesley Fofana's display against Manchester United, with some calling for the defender to be sold in January after he struggled to cope with the Reds' attacking threat and made a series of costly errors. Fofana's defending came under scrutiny on his return to the Premier League starting XI, having been an unused substitute in Chelsea's previous three league matches.
Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole expressed concern over his lack of awareness, telling TNT Sports: "He's asleep. Fofana comes asleep, trying to nail him and that's the second time, it's worrying from a Chelsea perspective.
Ally McCoist was similarly unimpressed, adding: "It's not good defending, it's not good defending."

Chelsea supporters have made their feelings clear on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, with one furious fan writing: "Wesley Fofana is a liability to Chelsea, just ship him out on January," while another was equally scathing, posting: "Hard to recall a worse defensive performance than Wesley Fofana today.
"Surely he cannot be on for the second half. Can we recall Badiashile?"
Others pointed to the hefty fee Chelsea paid to sign the Frenchman, with one fan remarking: "Wesley Fofana cost £70m." Another went a step further, claiming: "Wesley Fofana is an imposter playing for Chelsea. Bro is a secret agent."
The criticism continued as one supporter joked: "Every time I watch Wesley Fofana play I feel my lifespan shorten."
Another called for the defender to be moved on in the January transfer window, writing: "Wesley Fofana is the worst central defender in Chelsea's history so many poor decisions and mistake he should be sold in January."
The sentiment was clear as this Chelsea fan also posted: "Wesley Fofana could be pound for pound the worst Premier League defender in history."
Fofana joined Chelsea from Leicester City for £70million, with add-ons potentially taking the fee above the £80million United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019. Injuries have hampered his four years at Stamford Bridge, limiting him to 79 appearances so far.
