Former WBC heavyweight world champion Oliver McCall has successfully made weight ahead of his return to the ring this Tuesday evening.
This Tuesday at Country Box 45 in Nashville, Tennessee, former WBC heavyweight world champion Oliver McCall will return to the boxing ring to take on fellow former boxer, Jeremiah Williams. The 54-year-old has nowhere near as extensive experience as McCall with his professional record standing at 19-14-2.
The 61-year-old boxer was scheduled to return to action this past October against Nigerian veteran, Ike Ibeabauchi, who is 53 years old, but the fight was canceled after the event didn’t sell enough pay-per-views.
That was partly because fans didn’t feel comfortable with a 61-year-old returning to the ring, despite the fact that over the last two years, he has fought three times, winning two while drawing the other fight.
Ahead of his heavyweight clash against Williams, the former heavyweight world champion weighed in this Tuesday morning, hitting the scales at 234.5lbs. His opponent, Williams, hit the scales in much better shape, making their fight official.

With a loss against Williams in Nashville, it is likely that the 61-year-old will finally retire from the sport, with criticism regarding his continued activity potentially intensifying. In his prime, though, ‘The Atomic Bull’ was an extremely successful boxer, having scored wins over the likes of Lennox Lewis and Larry Holmes.
It was back in 1994 when McCall won his WBC heavyweight title after knocking out the aforementioned Lewis in the second round in their clash in London. He then went on to successfully defend his title against Holmes, before losing a unanimous decision against Frank Bruno in 1995.
Along with the 61-year-old controversially competing on the Country Box 45 event this Tuesday night, a boxer with a 6-29-2 record will fight against undefeated boxer, Christen Biggs.
