Khayelitsha boxer Sibulele “Lova” Soboois will head to Nairobi later this month for the biggest test of her professional career, carrying momentum from a stoppage victory over Asanda Mkhwanazi at the Warriors Ascent Fright Night tournament in Johannesburg last Friday.

Soboois secured the win after two rounds, adding another stoppage to her unbeaten professional record as she prepares for a shot at the interim WBA minimumweight title on November 28.

The 6-0 boxer will face Argentina’s undefeated Aldana Florencia Lopez, whose record is listed at 16-0. The 10-round contest will take place at Edge Centre South C in Nairobi.

The upcoming challenge follows another significant achievement earlier this year when Soboois defeated experienced campaigner Simangele “Smash” Hadebe by split decision to claim the WBO Africa flyweight title in Pretoria.

Hadebe came into that contest with 21 professional fights, while Soboois competed in only her fifth. The victory underlined the Khayelitsha southpaw's ability to compete against more experienced opponents.

“I am happy for my record since it was an added TKO win. But I am also worried about my opponent’s health at the moment,” she said.

With the Nairobi fight approaching, Soboois said she was ready for the challenge and understood what a victory could mean for her career.

“Yes, on the 28th of November I am super ready for this fight. A win there will get me known worldwide.

“It is the biggest at this stage of my career,” she added.
