Despite Tottenham’s firm stance on Pedro Porro’s future, Barcelona remain keen on signing the full-back, who is described as their dream target.
In the past few weeks, Spurs Web has provided extensive coverage of Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro’s future. We have relayed interest from Spanish heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid, who are keen on signing the full-back in January.
Spurs, on the other hand, are not looking to let one of their players leave easily, with reports claiming that a hefty price tag in the region of £75 million has been set as Porro’s valuation.
The Spaniard himself is not against a move to Spain, revealing a few days ago that he dreams of a return to his home country one day.
He said: “Obviously, I’d love to return to Spain someday. It’s my country, and I like the league. Right now, it would be very unfair to talk about anything other than my club because I’m under contract, but obviously, I’d love to go back to Spain; it’s a big dream of mine.”
However, despite Spurs’ stance, Barcelona are not relenting in their efforts to bring the full-back back to Spain. Hansi Flick’s side even made contact with Porro’s agent about signing the full-back either in the winter window or next summer.
Spurs, though, hold all the cards, and now, according to Monday’s Mundo Deportivo, as relayed by Sport Witness, Barcelona are understood to still be keen on signing Porro and have the Tottenham man as their dream target.
It is explained that while Flick’s side are aware it is highly unlikely they can sign the 27-year-old in January, the situation could be different next summer, especially if Barcelona manage some sales.
This is because the Blaugrana are facing complications in complying with Financial Fair Play regulations, but should they complete some outgoings first, they could make a move for Porro.
Still, Barca are not entirely closing the door on a winter move either, and should an opportunity arise, they could well pounce.
There is some good news for Tottenham, though, who are in a strong negotiating position. That is according to another report from Sport, which claims that signing Porro would be ‘prohibitive’ for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Porro only put pen to paper in the summer, signing a contract extension with Tottenham that runs until 2031.
As a result, if Barcelona or Real Madrid are to sign the full-back, they will simply have to meet Spurs’ demands, which at the moment is a hefty sum that could make the Spaniard the most expensive full-back in football history.
