Barcelona have called up four academy players to train with the first team ahead of Sunday's El Clasico against Real Madrid as Hansi Flick deals with several injury problems.

According to a report by Barca Universal on Friday, October 23, 2026, Hamza Abdelkarim, Alex Campos, Orian Goren and Ebrima Tunkara took part in Friday's training session as the team prepared for the La Liga match at Spotify Camp Nou.

Flick is facing selection problems, with several players expected to miss the game. Jules Kounde remains out with an ankle injury, while Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji are also reportedly unavailable.

Abdelkarim has already trained with Barcelona's senior team this season. However, he featured for Barça Atlètic last weekend because of limited first-team opportunities before returning to train with the senior squad ahead of the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.

Campos has also been involved with the first team after receiving his first senior call-up before the trip to Paris. His presence could give Flick another option as he considers how to deal with the team's defensive problems.

Goren and Tunkara have also been brought into training as the coaching staff assess their suitability for upcoming matches amid injuries affecting the midfield and attack.

It is not yet clear whether any of the four youngsters will make Barcelona's final squad for Sunday's match. Their involvement in training gives them an opportunity to impress Flick before he makes his selection.

Barcelona also have concerns over the fitness of other players. Gerard Martin has only recently recovered from discomfort, while Rodri was reportedly not fully fit for the PSG match. Frenkie de Jong has returned from injury but has not played since his comeback.

These fitness concerns could force Flick to make changes to his starting lineup and consider different combinations in several positions.

Barcelona reportedly have a six-point lead over Real Madrid in the La Liga standings ahead of Sunday's encounter. A positive result would strengthen their position, but the absence of several senior players could make the contest more difficult.

For Abdelkarim, Campos, Goren and Tunkara, the training opportunity gives them a chance to show they are ready if Flick decides to include them in the matchday squad.
