Premier League Table After Tottenham Won 2-0

According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Tottenham Hotspur secured an important 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League after taking advantage of their numerical superiority following Jean-Philippe Mateta's first-half dismissal.

Crystal Palace started the encounter with attacking intent and nearly took the lead in the ninth minute when Daichi Kamada tested Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. However, the goalkeeper produced an impressive save to prevent the visitors from opening the scoring.

Palace suffered a significant setback when Mateta was sent off following a VAR review. The striker had initially received a yellow card for a sliding challenge, but referee Michael Oliver subsequently upgraded the punishment to a straight red card.

With Crystal Palace reduced to 10 players, Tottenham immediately increased their attacking pressure and eventually broke the deadlock in the 25th minute.

Mohammed Kudus delivered a dangerous corner into the penalty area, where Archie Gray rose above the Palace defenders to connect with a powerful header that beat goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Despite taking the lead and enjoying a numerical advantage, Tottenham were unable to extend their advantage before the interval. Crystal Palace remained organised defensively, while Henderson produced several important saves to keep his team within reach of the hosts.

Tottenham returned for the second half determined to strengthen their advantage and continued putting pressure on the visitors. Mathys Tel, Dominic Solanke and Marmoush all threatened the Palace defence, but Henderson repeatedly intervened to prevent further goals.

Palace also benefited from a crucial goal-line clearance that denied Tel an opportunity to score from close range.

Tottenham continued searching for another goal, with Robertson subsequently testing Henderson, who responded with another impressive save.

The hosts eventually doubled their advantage in the 73rd minute when van Hecke headed the ball into the bottom-right corner, leaving Crystal Palace with a difficult task as they attempted to recover from the two-goal deficit.

Following the second goal, Tottenham maintained control of the encounter, while Palace struggled to create meaningful attacking opportunities with 10 players.

Kudus briefly appeared to have another chance to increase the scoreline, but his effort was ruled out for offside. Henderson also produced an excellent save to deny Kulusevski, while Pedro Porro narrowly missed the target with another attempt.

Despite Palace's efforts to limit further damage, Tottenham maintained their advantage until the final whistle.

The result secured three valuable Premier League points for Tottenham, who capitalised on Mateta's dismissal to deliver a convincing performance and complete a 2-0 victory over their London rivals.
